Wanneroo Junior Football Club supports members in making the journey across to Melbourne to take part in attending some AFL matches, attending team building exercises and bonding as a team.
WHO GETS TO GO?
Wanneroo Junior Football Club Melbourne trip is open to all year 9 players who register for that playing year and fees must be paid in full, this is for both male and female players (accommodation must be allowed to separate males from females). As for parents/supervisors, you need to allow 1 adult per 6 players. Adults will require a working with kid’s card (WWCC) regardless of whether their child is attending as when you take minors away or overnight a WWCC is necessary.
HOW IS IT FUNDED?
Funding for the Melbourne trip is in 3 parts.
Part1) Parents pay 1/3 (around $500.00)
Part2) Members fundraise and MUST raise a minimum of 1/3 (more the better). Club will help direct fundraising activities with a large percentage being through running our second canteen.
Part3) Club will help fund difference, no more than 1/3. For members to receive this portion they MUST earn it. This is earnt by way of setting up and packing down grounds on Friday nights when required, Saturday morning for AUSKICK and both Showgrounds and Edgar Griffiths for games on Sunday’s. Additionally, sweeping of changerooms and placing bins out. Generally, a roster of three members per set up
What can you expect?
Return airfares either QANTAS or VIRGIN depending on quote. Bus transfers from club rooms to Perth Airport and transfers in Melbourne. Bus transfers to return to showgrounds. Accommodation in the Melbourne CBD close to stadiums. Two games of AFL, one at MCG and the other at ETIHAD. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Guided tour of the MCG, team building exercise at indoor rock climbing and navigating the tram system of the CBD, visit to Collingwood Training centre and any other activity you plan within your budget.
When?
Mid-year is the target time during school holidays in July. Leave on a Friday morning and return on following Monday evening.
How to arrange?
Team must form a sub-committee to arrange rosters, quotes, fundraising, payments and report to Club President and Executive committee for updates at monthly committee meetings. Contact Best4 Travel Hillarys.
